Our history
Since 1991, Club Atletismo Arona has been much more than a sports team: we are a family united by a passion for athletics and the values it represents. We were founded with a clear goal: to promote the practice of athletics from an early age in the south of Tenerife, fostering values such as effort, perseverance, teamwork, and inclusion.
Over the years, we have grown to become one of the island’s leading clubs, with more than 250 registered members—over 200 of whom are underage youth—and the richness of having athletes from more than 20 nationalities. This cultural diversity is one of our greatest strengths and reflects our commitment to social integration and equal opportunities.
Our work goes beyond sports training: we actively collaborate with social services in various municipalities, provide scholarships to athletes in need, and include people with disabilities who wish to practice athletics in an accessible and motivating environment.
In these more than 30 years of history, we have been recognized several times as the best sports club in the municipality of Arona. We also proudly organize the Mario Pestano Tournament, among many others—an iconic event that pays tribute to one of our most outstanding athletes, a three-time Olympian who was trained in our school.
We firmly believe in the comprehensive development of our athletes: we encourage academic performance, promote participation in local, regional, and national competitions, and create spaces for socializing, learning, and personal growth.
Club Atletismo Arona is not just an athletics school; it is a social, educational, and sports project that continues to move forward with determination, building the future through sport.
Old Logo
Our first logo artistically and abstractly reflected the dynamism of athletics, with strokes in red, yellow, and blue that evoked both movement and the colors of the Spanish flag. The design also incorporated elements of Arona’s natural surroundings, such as the silhouette of Teide, connecting the sport with our local identity.
New Logo
The new logo represents an evolution toward a more modern, clear, and recognizable image. The figure of the athlete in mid-run conveys speed, effort, and perseverance—core values of our club. The colors red, yellow, and blue are retained, integrated into a circular design symbolizing unity and continuity. Additionally, the mountainous background pays tribute to our connection with the Tenerife landscape. This redesign reaffirms our commitment to innovation while staying true to our roots.
