The 2025 Spanish Cadet (Under-16) Athletics Championship was held in Gijón, Asturias on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 July. The following athletes earned their place in the competition, held at the Las Mestas sports complex, by achieving the national qualifying standards: Ana González Estévez in the 3K Walk, Paola Rodríguez Da Silva in the 300m, Cherem Messa in Shot Put, and Max Mora Lobmeyer in Javelin Throw.
In the Aronera expedition, the athletes travelled accompanied by their families, their head coach Marino Afonso Aguiar (in the case of Cherem, Paola and Max), Basilio Labrador (in the case of Ana), and the President of our organisation, Eduardo Galera Gaspar.
The championship featured the participation of 155 athletics clubs and more than 600 athletes, where our athletes delivered a historic weekend, winning three medals — gold, silver and bronze — which enabled us to finish in 11th place in the overall athletics club ranking out of 155.
At an individual level, the results were as follows:
• Cherem Messa, Spanish Champion in Shot Put with a mark of 13.27 metres (PB)
• Ana González Estévez, Spanish runner-up in the 3KM Walk with a time of 13'45''52''' (PB)
• Max Mora Lobmeyer, Spanish Champion in Javelin Throw with a mark of 48.70 metres (PB)
• Paola Rodríguez Da Silva reached the semifinals with a time of 45.07 seconds in the 300m.
We also want to highlight, besides the outstanding results that have established us as a leading club at a national level, the wonderful atmosphere experienced among our athletes, coaches and families, as well as with the other athletes and spectators present.
Without a doubt, a crowning achievement for the 2024/25 season, which has been exceptional both in terms of results and youth development, with more than 250 athletes now in our ranks.
